This course is designed for practitioners acting for owner managed businesses who need a refresher in respect of company and unincorporated loss relief. In this session Phillip Dolman will cover the following topics:

  • Recap of the rules for unincorporated businesses in respect of current year, prior year, carry forward, incorporation, extend to capital gains, early loss relief and terminal loss relief.
  • Recap rules for single incorporated businesses to include current year, carry back and carry forward relief
  • Recap of group relief for small groups of companies
  • Practice led scenarios and planning considerations of which loss option to use
  • How to claim relevant loss relief for clients.

After this session you will be able to consider unusual loss relief’s and consider how they could positively impact their clients. Most practicers have not had exposure to some of the quirky loss options since their exam days, so this course is designed to refresh this topic with a planning twist.
