Did you know that 1 in 4 have mental health challenges in the UK? Is it not time then that people feel empowered to take care of their mental health? We know that we need to take care of what we put into our bodies but we also need to take care of what we are putting into our minds.
In a recent webinar with Gordon Berry he states that “taking care of [your] wellbeing and those around you makes good business sense.” Stress triggers the body’s fight or flight reflex, which reallocates the blood supply from the thinking brain and the immune system and sends it to the extremities (your arms and legs) in order to assist the body to fight or run away. That’s why when you are stressed, you can’t think clearly. Many believe that the fight or flight reflex is only activated when there is a physical threat nearby, but this is not the case.
