This course is designed as a refresher for those advising or preparing VAT returns for businesses making both taxable and exempt sales, commercial landlords or builders. Advising client on partial exemption or property can be challenging, the legislation can be overwhelming and easily mis interpreted. The aim of the course is to refresh the key points with practical scenarios so you can provide rounded and well-informed advice to your client.


In this webinar Philip Dolan will cover the following topics:

  • Identify partial exempt trader and the implications in respect of input VAT  
  • Calculate and apply the simplified partial exemption test
  • Understand and apply the Option to tax on commercial property
  • Capital good scheme adjustment together with calculation
  • VAT scenarios for property builders and associated rates of VAT

 

At the end of the course, you will be able to identify a partial exemption trader, understand and apply the partial exemption rules including the simplified partial exemption tests together with practical scenarios. The course will also recap “option to tax” on a commercial property with the commercial considerations, understanding when a capital good scheme adjustment may be required and identify the correct rate a VAT a builder may need to charge when constructing a property.
