Accountants and tax advisers are constantly exposed to a risk that HMRC could open an enquiry or investigation to check the tax position of a client. The professional adviser is not expected to be able to support their client singlehandedly through that HMRC intervention and it is extremely valuable for the adviser to keep informed of latest HMRC developments in the world of tax disputes and to know when to reach out to a tax dispute specialist for support which can supplement the service that the professional adviser offers their client base. This is the purpose of this webinar.

In this session Sarah Scala will cover the following topics:

  • What HMRC say they are currently focusing on.
  • What issues tax disputes specialists are currently seeing.
  • The latest HMRC nudge campaigns and what to do if your client is contacted.
  • What options are available to you if you need to make a disclosure to HMRC on behalf of a client.
  • Top tips for effectively handling a HMRC enquiry and bringing it to conclusion in good time and for the right settlement.

By attending this session, you will learn/understand: -

  • What HMRC are most likely to contact your clients about.
  • How to approach the first conversation with your client about that issue.
  • When to bring in specialist support and how to approach this with your client.
  • The role of you and your team in a dispute related matter and how best to support your client.

This session will be of most interest to Tax Advisers and Accountants
