Course Details

This topic is designed to review the rules on statutory leave and returning to work following maternity or adoption of a child. It will also look at the relatively new bereavement leave on the death of a child and also how shared parental leave works. The session will be relevant for accountants in practice or business and members of their payroll teams. Clients often to turn to their advisors for guidance on these matters.


Alexandra Durrant will cover the following topics during this session:

  • statutory leave for maternity
  • statutory leave for adoption, 
  • statutory leave for shared parental leave
  • statutory leave for bereavement 
  • Other related provisions – KIT days and SPLIT days


At the end of the session you will have a better understanding of the rules and so be able to help clients comply with their employer’s responsibilities.


The session will be targeted to those working in payroll who may advise clients on statutory leave provisions in these cases, accountants running their own practices and those in business who need to be aware of the rules and apply to their own employees.

Alexandra Durrant

Alexandra Durrant is a chartered accountant and trainer. Until very recently she ran a practice in East Grinstead, providing audit, tax and accounting services to clients including payroll services and payroll/NIC advice. She is now focusing her time on training and consultancy through Aspiring Training Limited.
