Course Details

R&D tax is a hot topic at the moment, with HMRC sending letters to clients suggesting that their claims may be fraudulent, consultations into changing the schemes, pressure from regulators not to make claims without adequate training and a raft of rule changes coming into play on 1 April 2023.  Anyone involved in speaking to clients about whether or not they can make an R&D claim should join this session to get up to date on the changes.

During this course Simon Briton covers the following topics:

- New requirement to notify an intention to claim

- New rules excluding overseas subcontractors

- Alignment of the benefit between SMEs and large companies

- HMRC's compliance campaign

- RDEC for all - doing away with the SME scheme

The aim of this session is to bring advisors up to speed on the changes that are coming into effect in R&D tax in April, and to highlight the likely effect of changes that are on the horizon for April 2024.  This will be useful for anyone with clients that carry out product or process development.  There are important changes coming into effect that dramatically reduce the window for making claims.  If you don't stay up to date your clients could miss the opportunity.

This session will best suit people that have a familiarity with R&D tax claims as there will be an assumed level of knowledge with some of the concepts discussed.   For those looking for a general overview, please look up the 'Introduction to R&D tax claims' from January 2023 in the CPD Store library.
