Course Details

The start of MTD for income tax has been a learning curve for practices, businesses, and advisers alike. In this webinar, I will reflect on what the rollout has taught us so far, including navigating HMRC sign-ups, selecting the right software, adapting practice workflows, and understanding how client behaviour is changing. We’ll also explore how these lessons affect staffing, services, pricing, and preparations for the next stages of MTD.

In this session Sam Mitcham will cover the following topics:

  • What have we learnt: The sign-up process
  • What have we learnt: Software choices and digital record keeping
  • What have we learnt: Client behaviours and staff training
  • What have we learnt: Practice workflows, services and pricing
  • What have we learnt: Feedback from clients, staff and HMRC

By attending this session, you will understand the key lessons learnt so far from the rollout of MTD and the practical challenges faced by practices and clients when working with HMRC’s requirements. You will also gain insight into effective approaches to software selection, digital record-keeping, and adapting practice workflows, as well as how MTD is influencing client behaviour, staff training, and the way services may be delivered and priced in the future.

This session will be of most interest to accountants, tax advisors and bookkeepers

SJCM Accountancy

Sam Mitcham

Samantha formed SJCM Accountancy in 2019 having spent over 13 years employed in practice.

As an AAT licensed accountant, she is now focusing on helping small business owners have a better understanding of their numbers, be ahead of compliance and perform at their best.

Samantha uses technology as much of that as the next ‘modern’ accountant, but also aims to bring back the personal touch to accountancy and really show her clients that she cares, not just about their finances but about them as people.
