Dynamic array formulas represent one of the most significant changes to Excel in recent years. They allow a single formula to return multiple results, automatically expanding into neighbouring cells and dramatically simplifying many common calculations, reports, and models.

In this webinar, you will learn how and when to use dynamic array formulas. The session focuses on practical, real-world use cases that show how dynamic arrays can move you beyond traditional, cell-by-cell formulas in Excel.

In this session Alan Murray will cover the following topics:

  • Understanding what dynamic array formulas are and how they differ from traditional Excel formulas.
  • Writing your first dynamic array formulas and understanding how results “spill” across cells.
  • Working with spill ranges, including referencing them correctly and handling common errors when things go wrong.
  • Using key dynamic array functions effectively, with guidance on best practice and when dynamic arrays are not the right solution.
  • Building tables, reports, and simple models using a single dynamic array formula, and integrating them with charts and data validation.

By attending this session, you will learn/understand/be able to…”

  • Understand how dynamic array formulas work and why they change the way formulas are written in Excel.
  • Be able to write and manage dynamic array formulas with confidence.
  • Know how to reference spill ranges safely and avoid common dynamic array errors.
  • Understand which dynamic array functions deliver the greatest practical benefit.
  • Be able to create flexible reports and models that update automatically from a single formula.

This session will be of most interest to accountants, finance professionals, business analysts, and Excel users who are comfortable with basic formulas and want to modernise their approach using Excel’s latest formula capabilities.
