Course Details

All managers get involved in recruitment at some stage in their work, and there are a number of legal issues to consider. Discrimination needs to be avoided, of course. Can we ask about convictions? Can we take a reference, and how valuable is it? Can we ask questions about someone’s health? What happens if we verbally offer a job at the end of an interview, is that binding? In summary, how can we approach recruitment and be sure that what we are doing is legally compliant?

In this course Professor Kathy Daniels covers the following topics:

  • How discrimination can arise in the recruitment process
  • What you can ask about health issues
  • What questions you can ask about family responsibilities
  • What you can ask about criminal convictions
  • What can, and cannot, be put on a reference
