The course provides an overview of key early warning signs of financial stress and/or destress and considers the accountant’s role in best advising their client during this time. We consider the key insolvency processes and procedures including the key differences, benefits, and pitfalls. Finally, we briefly consider the Director’s duties, the changing duty to act in the best interest of creditors once they identify they may be insolvent and how Directors can best protect themselves from challenge and potential personal liability following a company failure.

Shaun Hudson

Shaun joined FRP in 2020 and is a Director in the Restructuring Advisory team and is based in our Newcastle and Sunderland office. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant and Insolvency Practitioner and has worked in restructuring since 2012.

Shaun has worked across a variety of sectors and has particular experience in retail, leisure and hospitality and manufacturing. This includes managing the administration process for several multi-site retailers with outlets throughout the UK (trading and non-trading).

He provides advisory services to businesses at all stages of the corporate lifecycle and has considerable experience in the sale of businesses as a going concern via an accelerated merger and acquisition (AMA) process.
