Course Details

The course will provide a helpful introduction to the type of work undertaken by a forensic accountant. This will be of interest to accountants in practice considering developing a forensic services offering. The course will explain the skillset of a forensic accountant and sources of work. We will consider the role of the forensic accountant as expert witness. Finally we will consider business valuation methodology. Business valuation is frequently relevant in forensic accounting cases and an understanding is generally useful to accountants in practice and industry.

  • Tips on setting up a practice in forensic accounting.
  • A few recent case studies.
  • A review of business valuation methodology.
  • Worked example on business valuation to show the sensitivity of the assessment.

Fiona Hotston Moore

Fiona is a partner in the FRP Advisory Forensic Services team. Fiona is an experienced forensic accountant and an accredited expert witness.

She qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1990 and as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 1991. She is a member of the Academy of Experts and an Accredited Counter Fraud Specialist. Fiona specialises in share and business valuation. She also has considerable experience in commercial disputes, tax disputes and professional negligence matters.

Fiona has been appointed to give evidence in over 330 cases and has given evidence in the High Court, Family Courts, International Court of Arbitration and Tax Tribunal.
