Tim has worked in the Payroll Industry for 33 years, for many years as a Payroll Manager for large UK organisations paying up to 18,000 employees. His particular specialism is international payroll, and he has run payrolls from Kingston, Jamaica to Entebbe, Uganda, and most places in between. In 2007 he formed his own company, and now spends much of his time writing and lecturing on all aspects of global payroll. He is a regular lecturer for PayrollOrg, IPASS, CIPP and many more payroll and HR training companies covering payroll rules in countries such as the UK, China, India, France and Germany.

When not lecturing or writing, he also provides a range of specialist consultancy services to the industry, primarily focused on international payroll requirements. He has contacts within the payroll industry around the world and likes nothing more than to talk “payroll” at global gatherings!

Carl Bayley is the author of a series of ‘Plain English’ tax guides designed specifically for the layman and the non-specialist. His particular specialty is his ability to take the weird, complex, and inexplicable world of taxation and set it out in the kind of clear, straightforward language taxpayers themselves can understand.

Carl takes the same approach when speaking on taxation, a role he frequently undertakes with great enthusiasm, including his highly acclaimed annual ‘Budget Breakfast’ for the Institute of Chartered Accountants. He has spoken on taxation on radio and television, including the BBC’s ‘It’s Your Money’ program and BBC Radio 2’s Jeremy Vine Show.

Carl began his career as a Chartered Accountant in 1983 with one of the ‘Big 4’ accountancy firms. After qualifying as a double prize-winner, he immediately began specialising in taxation. He worked for several major international firms until beginning the new millennium by launching his own practice, through which he provided advice on a wide variety of taxation issues; especially property taxation, inheritance tax, and tax planning for small and medium-sized businesses, for twenty years, before deciding to focus on his favourite role as author and presenter.

Carl is a former Chairman of the Tax Faculty of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a member of the Institute’s governing Council. He is also a former President of ICAEW Scotland and a member of the ICAEW Board. He has co-organised the annual Practical Tax Conference since its inception in 2002.

Edward Rands was for eleven years the Risk and Professional Standards partner at a large independent firm of chartered accountants.

He led the firm’s technical team, which was responsible for maintaining and updating accounting and auditing knowledge, and for dealing with complex problems and queries as they arose.

He was also the founder chairman of the UK technical committee of his firm’s international network, and a contributing author of the network’s commercially published IFRS manual.

He now works as an independent consultant, advising firms on technical and regulatory matters.

Jemma Fairclough-Haynes is a Public Speaker, Employment Law Specialist and the CEO of global award-winning business Orchard Employment Law, former Federation of Small Business (FSB) Area Leader for Kent and Medway and a school governor at a local school.

She is often featured in the media and blogs as an expert in her field. Some of her most recent interviews have been on, Sky News, BBC South East, ITV, BBC Radio Kent, Times Radio, KMTV and the Daily Mail. Jemma has over a decade of experience in Employment Law and she has represented businesses of various sizes in employment tribunals across the UK in many different types of claims. She is also the owner of Orchard Employment Law, Employment Law, and HR consultancy which she founded in 2015. Jemma is a dynamic speaker who takes the bore out of Law. Her presentations have been described as “eye opening” “interesting'' and “refreshing” but most importantly easy to understand and relatable.
